 EDUCATION: Veil Banning TOPIC: Cairo University has banned female teachers from wearing the full face veil (niqab) while teaching in order to improve communication between teachers and students. Rather than the niqab, they may wear a veil that covers their hair but not their face. What happened when they tried to ban the niqab completely from the entire university? 

 SOCIAL ISSUES: One-Child Policy Changed TOPIC: China has stopped its one-child policy, in place since 1979 though some modifications were made over the years, and will allow each family to have two children. The old policy was seen as a way to limit population growth, but an unintended consequence of it was a gender imbalance, as male children were favored. Why make the change now? 

 ENVIRONMENT: Hurricane Joaquin Floods        TOPIC:  South Carolina suffered terrible floods from Hurricane Joaquin.  What was the level of flooding, what was the extent of damage and what recovery measures were taken to clean up and repair the damage?  What are some effective precautions that can be taken before a flood?
